After a fantabulous evening at Longboards in Pacific Beach, everyone’s been asking what’s next for Danny and the Tramp? The answer is simple: recording.
We’ve made our practice room into a haphazard studio, and over the next few weeks we’ll be work-shopping all of the songs for our next album. A number of the tunes are already structured and are solid. However, we are looking to write one or two more so we have a complete album to offer.
Consider this a “pre-recording” phase where we plan on laying down some rough drafts to ensure everything sounds right. Then we will go into the studio and do the professional recording. This allows us the time and flexibility we otherwise could not get in the studio (time is money, folks!). ETA: Late March/Early April.
Have a Happy Holidays everyone and we will be updating you throughout the months on how recording is going. Stay tuned!
Danny and the Tramp is going back to where it all started: Longboards in Pacific Beach! DnT began their journey at a 2009 open mic night that was going on during Taco Tuesday. The management recognized our energetic, up-beat attitude (as well as a growing fan base thurstier than most other fan bases) and started booking us steadily through out the year. We cannot remember much from those early performances–probably because we were drinking and dancing with the rest of the crowd!
From there we branched out and started performing all over San Diego, but what better time for a stroll down memory lane? Though we’ve changed a bit and even added a 4th Guy to the line up, what you can expect from a night with Danny and the Tramp is still the same: A wide variety of covers – anywhere from the 50s all the way until now – and a strategic sprinkling of our originals to go along with the energetic mood. We will also be trying out a few brand new original songs that have never been heard before… some of them have not even been heard by us!
Danny and the Tramp will be performing this Friday in PB at Longboards from 10pm-1am. Click the flyer to the left and make sure to “attend” their event so you can avoid the $5 cover and get in for free!
Now and then we think thoughts and write them here.
