Last August, a friend of a friend mentioned she works for one of MTV's production companies in LA and she may be able to pass it along to their music department. We had nothing to lose, so we packaged up our first, full-length album, All In, and sent it off into the wonderful grapevine of LA's entertainment industry. The thought of it ever actually making it onto the desk of someone in charge--let's just say we weren't holding our breaths.
After a few months we had completely forgotten about it, but toward the end of the year we got wind that the Music Director was willing to check out our stuff. Hot dang! Just hearing that there was an opportunity for someone who has the power to turn the national switch on or off to listen to our music--well that felt almost as good as hearing they actually liked it!
And just like that: Early 2014, a phone call, a proposal we would be stupid not to take, and a signed contract. They really enjoyed Chase That Bunny, and they "totally see it in one of the upcoming scenes from this year's Real World: Ex-plosion." More importantly, it turns out the team really dug the rest of our tunes, and licensed our entire album for use in any upcoming shows that they might fit with!
(Sidenote: The scene is supposedly one of the cast members tries out to be a go-go dancer. Sounds like something right up our ally. Fun, party atmosphere with some sexy flare to it. Apparently, they're on the same page as us.)
We actually signed the contract a few weeks ago, but had to keep hush until all of the "higher ups" approved. We finally got the green light this morning and we can officially announce: Danny and the Tramp's song, Chase That Bunny, will be featured on The Real World: Ex-plosion next Wednesday, March 26, 2014! Check your cable companies' schedule next Wednesday. They say it airs 10PM eastern time, but who knows (especially on the west coast).
While the song is played, they'll display our name and direct viewers to a page on MTV's official website. We're pretty excited about this opportunity and are just humbled about the entire experience.
So yes, it's official. We are 0.15% famous!!!!! Tell your friends. Tell your family.
This is only the beginning. Let's show the whole world how to run! I mean...let's make that money! No, wait. That's too aggressive. Let's just run around and chase that bunny, shall we?
As you wait for the show to air, take a listen to the song they chose:
Now and then we think thoughts and write them here.
